Kirkton Controls founded
Kirkton Controls logo

Kirkton Controls was founded. Formerly the panel shop at Westmont Systems, Kirkton Controls was established in Livingston, Knightsridge with premises totalling 1500sqft. The company was named Kirkton Controls because we were due to move to Kirkton Campus but that fell through and was instead located at Knightsridge but retained the original the name.

First turnkey job

Completion of our first turnkey job. McCormick UK – this was the first job where Kirkton designed and built the control panel, installed it on site and commissioned the job.

Management buyout
Malcolm

Management buyout. Malcolm Haddock, Colin Hart and Eric Hart took over Kirkton Controls with a total of 6  staff including Malcolm, Colin and Eric.

Kirkton expands

Kirkton expands in size by renting the building which was next door to their previous location, at this point our premises total 1500sqft with 10 staff.

Allen Associates
Allen Associates

Started our long standing relationship  with Allen Associates. Our introduction to the whisky world which has led us to every corner of Scotland and around the world from Portugal to the Faroe Islands, Finland, Norway and Spain.

2006
Kirkton expands

Kirkton expands by moving to Whitehill Industrial Estate in Bathgate.  At this point the company comprises 16 staff in a 3000sqft facility.

Eric retires

Eric Hart retires and Malcolm and Colin take over full ownership.

Kirkton moves to their own premises
Holytown office when first brought

We move to our present, privately owned premises in Holytown. Formerly the site of an old bakery. Over the years we have expanded and added an extension at the front for office space to accommodate our growth and in more recent years have added modular offices at the bottom for more office space. Expanding our premises has allowed us a larger, more flexible,  workshop space. At this point the company comprises 24 employees in a 5,000sqft facility.

First distillery in the Faroe Islands

Kirkton controls provided the MCC panel for the Faroe Islands first ever whisky distillery, The Faer Isles distillery.

Management buyout

Management buyout. Colin retires and Thomas, Calum, Jacek, Ian and Duncan buy out Colin and Malcolm.
