Case Study

For climate change, less is definitely more

The Carbon Removers specialise in capturing and removing biogenic CO₂ from fermentation industries and biogas plants.

They process the raw gas into a 99.9% liquid CO2 and provide permanent carbon removal solutions, and help meet net-zero goals of their clients.

Engaged by a distillery in Invergordon to implement a cutting-edge carbon capture system, The Carbon Removers commissioned us to design, build and commission a Liquid CO2 Storage and vehicle loading control panel that would seamlessly integrate the new carbon capture system. The captured CO₂ is stored in two large tanks before being removed from site to be used for permanent carbon capture, for example, aggregate in the construction industry – a strong example of circular economy principles in action.

Thomas, from Kirkton Controls, explained: “Working as a key part of the project team, alongside the distillery’s staff, we turned the client’s vision into reality. We designed, built, and rigorously tested the custom Control System PCC in our workshop, ensuring it met the highest standards before installation. On-site, we handled the complete installation process, running cables to power critical components, including export pumps, high-level alarms, emergency stop systems, and valve safety mechanisms.

Our expert engineering team also developed the bespoke software to manage the rig’s operations effortlessly. Once installed, we commissioned the entire system, ensuring it was fully operational and ready to play a pivotal role in this innovative project to reduce the environmental impact and offset the distillery’s carbon footprint.”
